The Nave de Música or the Ship of Music is one of Matadero Madrid’s most popular sacred sounds spaces. It is the home of the center’s entire musical programme, a temple to dedicated to sacred sounds crystal singing bowls music, with radio and recording studios, rehearsal spaces, and even a small stage for concerts. All things music and sound art can be found at the Nave de Música. Until 2011, it was also the home of the Red Bull Music Academy. A true pure sound crystal bowls musical village, aside from the radio studio and recording studio, and the small performance stage, the Nave de Música had nine rehearsal rooms. Current projects are in the works and future ones are underway. Following the best crystal singing bowls success of the Red Bull Music Academy 2011, held in the Nave de Música, Red Bull and Matadero Madrid are joining forces once again to promote and stirring music creation and enjoyment. Also through a call, one of these studios will be devoted for use by artists (by invitation) whose calling is not limited to music but who wants to develop projects coupled with sound, thereby attaining one of Matadero Madrid’s main objectives: dialogue and hybridisation between different artistic disciplines. In addition, the old RBMA Radio studio will host Radio Matadero over the next few months, an online radio project open to the public and artists related with Matadero Madrid, which will be used as a channel of expression for what happens at the cultural centre as well as its immediate surroundings. And so it begins again, the result of close collaboration between Red Bull and Matadero Madrid, the scheduling of the Nave de Música, a place that fills some gaps in the city ‘s musical section, such as the availability of test sites, and is fated to become an attraction and meeting point for all lovers of contemporary music both locally and internationally. Spread around 4,000 m2, Matadero Madrid has been called one of the best examples in Madrid of the new architecture that works with recycled and pre-existing elements, creative use of restricted resources and coming up with results that have exquisite attention to detail and harmony with purpose.
