Medioda Chica

The people who created the Medioda Chica defined it as a continuous construction of space. It is primarily a studio of sacred sound artists and a place where the artists can make presentations, exhibitions, workshops and hold events. They are progressively becoming famous as a group and as an individual. The proposal for interaction has emerged continuously with other group and individuals. With these, it has created an existent alternative to the city and the neighborhood’s cultural sacred sound crystal singing bowls offerings from which each individual could also participate to support small emerging groups. Through these events, artists were able to expand their network of contacts. Mediodia chica has 15 members which came from different genres. The group presents modern samples of  photography, engraving, screen printing, painting, pure sound crystal bowls, drawing, collage, sculpture, toys and dolls, restored furniture, clothes designed in the workshop, silkscreened camis, brooches and other interesting crafts. Their goal is to create new exhibits both individual and as a group for them to be able to raise funds for other activities that Medioca Chica regularly offers to the public. This is also one way for them to be recognized. They celebrated their second anniversary last year as a cultural and creative workshop association by raising an event showing their group’s work. It was held on December and January of 2008, and from then on their  succeeding exhibitions became a success. They were able to host events like workshops. One of the most successful events was the best crystal singing bowls creative typography which they called  “Letter”. It is a creative approach to the world of typography. The organization also have decided to get in touch with experts like designers and illustrators that came from different fields and have proposed a series of workshops to show their talent on how they personally approach creative typography. This event took place in the month of March 2010 until the July of the said year. Individuals who participated in the workshop were coached by different designers and illustrators in the work space of Mediodia Chica which is located at La Latina in the center of Madrid. The events in Medioda Chica has always been a success and the workshops are really worth attending, especially if you are an aspiring artist. Matadero Madrid

Matadero Madrid, the project promoted by the City Council of Madrid’s Department of the Arts is managed by the Directorate General for Cultural Projects track slider through Matadero Madrid’s coordination team in cooperation with other private and public organizations. The name is taken from the space; Matadero Madrid is based in an old slaughterhouse in Madrid’s Arganzuela district. Matadero Madrid embarks on this work with the highest respect for the inherited industrial legacy and with its attention focused on the surrounding neighborhoods and the city of Madrid without losing sight of the international scene. The incentive of contemporary artistic creation is an essential part of Matadero Madrid’s mission, and this continuously comes with a multi-disciplinary, hybridized, and revolutionary perspective which leaves room for all modes of artistic expression: the visual arts, reading and literature, the performing arts, film, music, design, architecture, urban planning, and landscaping. From this perspective, the participation of the city’s main agents and institutions that work in diverse fields of cultural creation has been, and goes on to be, fundamental. This commitment has helped us to produce a model of institutional, public, and private cooperation that makes possible society’s involvement in the project and assures the project’s plurality, autonomy, and feasibility.
